Did you know that more than 425 people are experiencing homelessness right here in Bucks County? Now there's a simple, practical way you can help: the St. Philip's Sock Drive for the Homeless.Homeless people need clean, dry socks to stay healthy. When their socks get wet, they're at risk for infection and frostbite. But homeless people don't have easy access to laundry facilities or new socks. In fact, socks are the most frequently requested – but least frequently donated – clothing items at homeless shelters.
That's why, every Christmas, St. Philip's collects new socks to benefit homeless people in our community. Over the past few years we have distributed thousands of pairs of socks to Code Blue, Bucks County Opportunity Council and other Bucks County organizations.
Here's how you can help: During the month of December, bring new socks for men and new socks, stockings, pantyhose or leggings for women to St. Philip's Church and leave them in the blue bin outside the front door. (The socks should be brand new – not used. New children’s socks are also welcome, but primarily adult socks are needed.) Also look for collection bins at New Hope businesses.
Thanks for being part of the St. Philip's Sock Drive for the Homeless – and for taking a simple, practical step to help our homeless neighbors right here in our community.
