St. Philip’s Care of Creation Fest is an annual celebration of nature and our role as stewards of the environment. The 2023 event will take place Saturday, October 7, from 12:00 pm to 3 p.m.
Care of Creation Fest honors St. Francis of Assisi, the medieval Italian friar who traveled the Umbrian countryside with a message of simplicity and love for all God’s creation.
The family-friendly event will help build community and educate the local community in ways we can reduce, recycle and reuse to become better caretakers of the natural world. Local animal- and conservation-focused nonprofits are expected to participate. Also featured will be a white-elephant table with a wide variety of second-hand items offered for sale, as well as a clothing-swap table featuring gently used clothing.
Father Michael will bless animals at noon. Past animal blessings at St. Philip’s having included dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, turtles and other animals.
Care of Creation Fest will be followed at 3 p.m. by a concert with folk musician David Brahinsky and Band.
